Domingo T. Orozco, 77, of Texas City, TX passed away on August 8, 2025 at home after a brief illness. He is survived by loving daughters, Deborah O'Sullivan of Leominster, MA and Elizabeth Hamparian of Merrimack, NH and wonderful grandchildren, Luke, Mackenzie, Jacob and Talon Hamparian. He is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine (Shanahan) Orozco.
Dom was the beloved son of the late Valentin and Carmen Orozco; and devoted brother to Angela Garcia, Mary Lou Capetillo, and Gloria Serda (who preceded him in death). He is also lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews and many other family members.
Dom was a 1966 graduate of Texas City High School and a veteran of the U. S. Army. He served as a Medical Technician during the Vietnam War. In 1968 Dom, at the age of 20 and the rank of Specialist Four, was awarded 'The Soldier's Medal' for heroism in disarming a hysterical soldier who was shooting his rifle and endangering lives during an artillery fire mission.
After military service, he became a member of the VFW (Post 62) in Reading, MA; and of the Colonel HB Moore American Legion (Post 89) in Texas City. Most recently, he was a devoted volunteer for the Texas City-La Marque Chamber of Commerce. He started volunteering with the Golden Division and then was named the Director of Volunteers.
Family will greet guests at Carnes Funeral Home (3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City) on Monday, August 18, 2025 from 5:30-7:30PM with a 6:30 PM Recitation of the Rosary and brief Vigil Service. Graveside Services are 11:00AM, Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, TX.
