Sister of the Religious Teachers Filippini Sr. Dolores Potkay, MPF, 83, died Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Morristown Medical Center, Morristown, NJ. A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 23, beginning at 10:00 a.m., in St. Lucy Chapel, Villa Walsh, Morristown, NJ, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place following the Liturgy at Ave Maria Cemetery. Arrangements are by Doyle Funeral Home, Morristown, NJ. Born in Trenton, NJ, Sr. Dolores entered the Religious Teachers Filippini in 1957. She received the habit in 1958 and made her religious profession in 1961. Sr. Dolores studied Mathematics, earning an AB degree from College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, NJ, and a MS from University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, IN. She also earned a MA in Religious Education from LaSalle University, Philadelphia, PA. In her 63 years of religious life, Sr. Dolores ministered as classroom teacher, Vice-Principal, and Principal. She worked in the (arch)dioceses of Baltimore, Camden, Hartford, Newark, Paterson, and Trenton. She also served as Provincial Councillor and Secretary, and Directress of Formation for the Religious Teachers Filippini. Sr. Dolores was appointed convent superior of Villa Victoria, Trenton, NJ, and St. Joseph, Hammonton, NJ. In 2013, Sr. Dolores retired to St. Joseph Hall, Villa Walsh, Morristown, NJ. Sr. Dolores was one of four children. She is survived by her brother Raymond; her sister-in-law, Ursula; niece, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Helen (Rafalowski) Potkay, and her sisters, Caroline and Mary Potkay.
