Dolores E. Gretzula, 92, Throop, died early Monday at Linwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Michael Gretzula Jr., in 2016.
Born in Throop, daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Weiss Barbolish, she was a graduate of Throop High School and had been employed in the local garment industry before retirement. A member of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Throop, she had been a past president of the Christian Mothers Society. Dolores was a great cook and baker who enjoyed crocheting, quilting, bingo and going to the casino. She also was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Surviving are her son, Thomas Gretzula and wife, Carmel of Dunmore; daughter-in-law, Leona Gretzula of Clearmont, Fla.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She had also been preceded in death by her son, Michael T. Gretzula in 2001; brothers, Edward and George Barbolish; and grandson, Chad Gretzula.
The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Parish, 215 Rebecca St., Throop. Family and friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.
Interment to follow in St. John's Cemetery, Throop.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that contributions in Dolores' memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
