Dick C. Ames passed away in his home in Janesville, WI, at the age of 66 on August 17, 2024. He was born in Prairie du Chien on September 23, 1957, the son of Clayton and Delores (Nagel) Ames. Dick proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1975-1979, during the Vietnam Era, and from 1981-1985. He married Kathleen M. Cleveland on October 11, 1975, in La Crosse, WI. He worked for General Motors for nearly 30 years until his retirement in 2013. He enjoyed fishing, reading, putting puzzles together with his wife, and playing chess, board games, or tennis with his children. He loved spending time with family and returning to Prairie du Chien for visits and fishing on the Mississippi River.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; their three children: Patrick (Vicki) Ames of Charlotte, NC, David (Amy) Ames of Whiteland, IN, and Joshua Ames of Rochester, NY; his four grandchildren: Gabriel, J.J., Nicholas, and Abby; his mother, Delores Ames; his sister, Sandra Ames; his sister-in-law, Anne Ames; and his niece, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Clayton; and his two brothers, Daniel and Dennis Ames.
