Dianne Dunton Poland
October 28, 1940 - August 13, 2024
Dianne was born in Atlanta, daughter of Nann Hicks Dunton and Edward
Roy Dunton. She graduated from Chamblee High School and attended
the University of Georgia, Georgia State University and the State
University of California at Northridge where she graduated with magna
cum laude honors in sociology. She married her husband, Dyckman, in
1963 and was the loving mother of two daughters: Amy Poland and Julie
Campbell Olszeski (Bernard Olszeski), six grandchildren: Adam Nun, Emily
Nun, Noah Nun and Seth Nun, Lilliana Campbell and Adeline Campbell
plus one great-granddaughter, Abigail Nun.
Dianne was a devout Christian woman, introduced to God by her
grandmother Fredda Hicks, and she embraced many Christian sects during
her life, including Baptist, Episcopalian and Presbyterian, culminating in
Methodist for the last quarter-century. She was at one time or another a
Sunday school teacher, usher and active participant in missions to places
including Atlanta, San Jose, Costa Rica, Gulfport, Miss. and Welch, WV.
Dianne and her family lived in Atlanta, GA, Derby, UK, Woodland Hills, CA
and Marietta, GA. They have been residents of Marietta for 41 years.
During that time she worked as a PE teacher at a parochial elementary
school in Canoga Park, CA, and an office manager at a couple of Atlanta
companies. She adroitly managed the family investments, including
hands-on acquisition and management of rental properties in both
California and Georgia.
Dianne was a beautiful, extraordinary woman and a loving and caring
spouse, mother and grandmother whose presence is engraved forever in
the memories of her friends and family. She is and will be sorely missed
by us during our remaining times on earth.
