Help us celebrate Dianne! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Dianne.
Dianne Louise Hegar Helms, 52, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 10, 2026, at Methodist Hospital in The Woodlands. She was born on November 6, 1973, in Houston, Texas.
Dianne grew up in the Sagemont area, and she attended Frazier elementary, Thompson Intermediate, and Dobie High School. She and her family attended Sagemont Presbyterian Church. Dianne was active in Girls' softball in Sagemont and Friendswood. She was a Brownie and a Girl Scout, she took twirling lessons, she was a Dobie Lariaette, and she was the Texas State Junior High Game and High Series Bowler for years. Diane loved to jog, swim, surf, garden, camp, fish and tend to stray animals. She was a landscaper and was very knowledgeable about plants and flowers.
Unfortunately, Dianne was in a terrible alcohol-related vehicle accident on the morning of December 31, 2006. She suffered a traumatic brain injury followed by a stroke. She was in various stages of a coma for 14 months before awakening with a vengeance. She was unable to walk, talk, eat or drink, but her determination and sense of humor were her shining light. Dianne became a speaker via her text-to-speech computer for Shattered Lives Programs in high schools and in churches from 2010 until COVID stopped the programs in 2021. She touched countless lives through her presentations and by distributing copies of her Testimony.
Dianne was preceded in death by her grandparents, John Cruse, Kyle and Earl Harding, Irene and Marvin Hegar, Sr., Frances, and Dr. Rod DuChemin; her aunt, Debbie DuChemin; and her uncle, Steve Cruse. She is survived by her father, Marvin Hegar, Jr.; her mother and step-father, Linda and Dan DuChemin; her daughter, Leanne Helms; her sisters, Kylynne Anderson, Lauren Hoskins (Joseph), and Hope Gentry; and her brother, Trey Hegar.
She is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and caregivers.
Dianne's Celebration of Life will be Saturday, January 24, 2026, at First Baptist Conroe, 600 Main St., Conroe, Texas, at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM in the foyer. A reception will follow the service at the church.
