Diane Rose Fournier, 79, died peacefully at home on November 6, 2021. Born on March 5, 1942, in Providence RI, she was the daughter of William and Lena (Hebert) Fournier. Diane resided in Attleboro Massachusetts for most of her adult life, often vacationing in Punta Gorda, FL before permanently moving to Punta Gorda in 2001.
Diane was a graduate of Fordham University and received her Master's degree in Administration from Columbia University. Her career as a teacher began in New York, where she served as Principal of St. Johns School. She taught in Maryland and in South Attleboro, Massachusetts, serving as Chairman of the Math Department at Coelho Middle School in South Attleboro for several years. Diane shared her leadership talents by staying involved in numerous committees and teacher organizations throughout her career. She served as President of her condominium association in Punta Gorda for 13 years where her leadership qualities were especially useful in managing the condominium's rebuilding phase after Hurricane Charlie in 2004.
Diane loved to cook and entertain, especially around the holidays. She enjoyed planning get-togethers with her teacher friends. She was an avid traveler and traveled the world with her best friend Annette. Diane had a gift of always seeing the good in people, and she was loved by many.
Diane will be deeply missed by her longtime companion and best friend, Annette Brown, her loving cousin Janet O'Rourke, and many other relatives and close friends. She is predeceased by her brother Thomas Fournier.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at the St. John the Evangelist Church, Attleboro, Massachusetts. Burial to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. John the Evangelist School. Arrangements by Johnson-Taylor Funeral & Cremation.
