Diane Andrews Flora, 74, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 30, 2021. The daughter of the late Ben E. and Phyllis Hardison Andrews, she grew up in Portsmouth, Virginia where she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, and attended Old Dominion University. For the past 41 years she has lived in Northern Virginia. She loved traveling, experiencing different cultures and meeting new people. With her husband and two boys she lived in India in the late 70s, and since has traveled extensively in Europe, South and East Asia, Russia, Africa, the Caribbean, Mexico, and South America as well as the United States. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and gardening. The focus of her life was her family of whom she was very proud and deeply devoted. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John; two sons, Michael (wife Kristin) of South Riding, VA, and Jason, of Round Hill, VA.; five grandchildren: Marissa, Sean, Katherine (Maxwell), Abigail (Nico), and Jacob (Jake). Two brothers: Ed Andrews (wife Teresa) of Virginia Beach, VA; Steve Andrews (wife Vicki) of Chesapeake, VA.; and sister, Linda Wade of Virginia Beach, VA.; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Diane was a generous and caring person, reflected in her warm and welcoming home and delicious home-cooked meals. Her selflessness, strength, and courage impacted everyone who had the privilege to know her and she will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration of a contribution to Mobile Hope (mobilehope.loudoun.org). Homelessness, food insecurity, and particularly the plight of homeless teenagers was of great concern to her. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
