Diana D. Igo, age 76, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Majestic Care of Bloomington. She was a resident of Bloomington and a former longtime resident of Nashville.
Born on June 20, 1948, in New Castle, Diana was the daughter of the late Oscar Allen and Margaret Ellen (Irvin) Igo. She graduated in 1966 from Blue River Valley High School in Mount Summit, Indiana, and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Ball State University in Muncie.
Diana began her distinguished career in education in 1970 as a teacher for Twin Lakes School Corporation in Monticello, Indiana. In 1973, she moved to Nashville, where she spent the next 38 years teaching at Helmsburg Elementary School, retiring in 2011.
An active member of her community, Diana was involved in the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Indiana Retired Teachers Association, and the Democratic Party in both Brown & Monroe Counties. She also had a deep love for animals, especially her furry companions, and enjoyed feeding the birds and reading in her free time.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Rebecca Gayle Igo.
She is survived by her dear friend, Donna Duff, of Nashville.
In accordance with Diana's wishes, there will be no formal service. She will be laid to rest alongside her parents and sister at Mount Summit Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
