Dessie Eugene "Gene" Stroud, age 79, of McDonough, died, Monday, January 11, 2021. He was born in Swainsboro, Georgia to the late Dessie Eugene Stroud and Martha Stroud. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Jeanette Serrian and Alice Thompson, and brother, James Stroud.
Mr. Stroud is survived by his loving wife, of 54 years, Judy Winfrey Stroud; children, David Eugene Stroud, of Locust Grove, Georgia and Brian Tyler Stroud of Concord, Georgia; grandson, Spencer Tyler Stroud, of Denver Colorado; sister, Mary Frances Singletary, of Swainsboro, Georgia, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Gene was a loving husband and father. He was always seeking to serve his Lord and Savior.
He graduated from Swainsboro High school Class of 1959. Gene served in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Fort Jackson and was later stationed in Shemya, Alaska. After the army he went to work for Glidden Paint and retired as the Related Products Manager after 30 years. His second career was with Grizzard Advertisement as an Accounts Manager. He was a member of Ash Street Baptist Church for many years where he served as a deacon and worked with RA Boys. He later became a member of Salem Baptist Church. Gene was an Avid sports fan.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Kite City Cemetery.
