Dennis Lee Southworth, or Denny as he was known to many, age 64 of Piketon, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 20, 2023, at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. Denny was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edith "Mae" Southworth, and his father-in-law Sherman Tuttle. Denny was united in marriage to his one true love, Teresa (Tuttle) Southworth on August 16,1980 where they have one daughter, Brandi (Michael) Davis and two wonderful grandchildren Declan and Branleigh Davis all of whom survive. Also surviving are his two brothers, Robert "Bobby" (Brenda) Southworth and Timothy (Brenda) Southworth; mother-in-law Barbara Tuttle; and brothers-in-law Gordon (Teresa) Tuttle, Shannon (Regina) Tuttle, and Isaiah Tuttle.
Denny graduated from Eastern High School in 1977. Denny retired from Worthington Industries in Columbus, Ohio after 24 years of service in 2019. Denny currently served as the zoning officer for the Village of Piketon.
Denny will always be remembered as someone who had a big heart, always available to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed anything. Denny was a friend to many and had a gift that made everyone feel comfortable and welcome. Simply put, Denny was a great person who will be deeply missed by all.
Denny was truly a family man, where there was never a time in which he did not tell his family that he loved them and had the best hugs. Denny was especially proud of his grandchildren Declan and Branleigh, as they brought him much joy, happiness, and love. Denny and Declan were nearly inseparable, always talking about basketball, racing, and working with Declan on his game. Denny was never afraid to receive a makeover from his granddaughter Branleigh either. Denny's legacy will live on through his family as he touched us and taught us many lessons.
A celebration of Denny's life will be held at a time convenient for the family at a later date.
