Dennis (Denny) Earl Hornocker, 75, of Fairland, Indiana, went to be with his Lord and Redeemer Sunday, March, 13, 2022. He was born June 25, 1946, the son of Andrew (Andy) Carnegie Hornocker and Emma Elizabeth (Libby) Schell Hornocker, who preceded him in death.
Dennis was a 1964 graduate of Ben Davis High School and shortly after worked as a printer. Following in his father and uncles footsteps, Dennis joined the Indianapolis Fire Department in 1967 proudly serving many years at Station 33 and retiring, after 32 years, at Station 1. He was a Lieutenant for 21 of those years and received the Community Service Award, in 1982, for actions taken for assisting in purchasing a handicap accessible van for a 10 yr old girl that he had saved from death.
Dennis loved his Lord Jesus and was baptized in May of 1977. Combining his passion of firefighting and spreading the Gospel, he purchased 2 fire apparatus to use, as a witness tool (an ice breaker as he called it) in local parades and vacation bible school. Dennis was a lifetime member of the Gideons International and was a member at Fairland Christian Church where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the local 416 I.A.F.F.
