Delbert William Todd, 84, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, September 21, 2018 at First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park with Rev. Jeffrey Pehl, Pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Hopewell Cemetery near Winnsboro, Texas. Services are under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the funeral home.
Delbert was born June 3, 1934 in Delta County, Texas to James Erasmus and Maurice (Williams) Todd. He graduated from Iowa Park High School in 1952. Delbert then served his country in the United States Air Force. He married the love of his life, Patsy Ann Wilson, on August 11, 1957 at the Good Hope Baptist Church in Wood County, Texas. Delbert was a 1960 graduate of Texas Tech University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He worked as a teacher for 31 years, 29 of those being at Hirschi High School in Wichita Falls, but was considered a lifelong educator, taking every opportunity to teach children about science. Delbert was always exploring and was a railroad enthusiast. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park, the Rotary Club in Iowa Park, and achieved the Senior Citizen of the Year Award from the Iowa Park Chamber of Commerce. Delbert enjoyed life to its fullest and loved his family dearly.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Edwin Todd.
Surviving relatives include his wife of 61 years, Patsy Todd of Iowa Park; two children, Glenn Todd and his wife, Melissa of Emerson, New Jersey and Dee Ann Emberton and her husband, Dean of Friendswood, Texas; three grandchildren, Randi of Webster, Texas; Holli of Friendswood; and Gabe, also of Friendswood; and one brother, Gene Todd and his wife, Carolyn of Louisiana.
