Delbert "Dick" Miller, of Frankston, TX, passed away July 11, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Hopkins County on June 6, 1947 to the late William Delbert Miller and Willie "Nubin" Gallender. He was raised in Tyler, TX where he graduated from Robert E. Lee High school in 1966. Mr. Miller's career at the Tyler Independent School District spanned 20 years, during which he served as a bus driver for St. Louis Special Education School and assisted in various classroom roles.
He also volunteered for the Noonday Fire Department and participated in their Halloween Haunted House every year. Mr. Miller was actively involved in the 3rd District American Legion, contributing his time to work at their booth and the front gate of the East Texas State Fair. He loved fishing and playing 42.
His love for his family was one of his most important values, from his siblings, to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, including his nephew, niece and great niece. His deepest joy lay in his faith. Mr. Miller loved
attending church. He drove the church bus for Bealls Baptist Church and later Woodland Hills Baptist Church. He found great happiness in studying and researching Bible scriptures for hours, in addition to writing his own sermons. He had a dedication to understanding and sharing his faith and It was evident in every aspect of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Doyce, sisters Debbie and Janet, daughter Sandy, and nephew Brandt. He is survived by his sister Diann (Kevin) Rivers, daughters Tina (Henry) Owen, Amy (Elfonso) Hernandez, Lebrenda Miller, Stephanie Miller, Meredith (Jesse) Jones, son James (Pam) Miller, niece Katie Battles, great niece Sadie Fields, 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous cousins and friends.
Pallbearers are Henry Owen, Kevin Herring, James Miller, TJ Hendrix, Jesse Owen, Stephen Owen, Mike Miller, and Bobby Mays.
Honorary pallbearers are Jordan Smith, Kevin Rivers, Jesse Pittman and Amy Hernandez.
Family visitation will be Friday July 19, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro, TX. Services will be Saturday July 20, 2024
at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Beaty Funeral Home with Dr. Carl Carlson officiating. Interment will follow in Winterfield Cemetery Hopkins County.
