How do you know Del? Please share your stories and photos, and help spread the word about this page!
Del Lloyd Kindelspire was born November 24, 1953 in Leola SD to Lloyd Kindelspire and Vera (Bain) Kindelspire. He moved to LaMoure, ND with his parents and older sisters, where he lived until his death.
He married Debora Joyce Koehler on August 2, 1974. Two sons were born to this union. Del became a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church after his marriage.
Del's life career was with the City of LaMoure for 38 years as Public Works Superintendent. His focus was always for the betterment of the city. He enjoyed snow removal as his favorite part of the job, because he could work at night when nobody was around! He took pride in his work, but never expected recognition. He retired in 2018, but never gave up his daily "drive-around" checking out the city like he always had, and the country around LaMoure for deer and other animals.
He enjoyed hunting locally and far away, shooting three bears and a few wild pigs. He and his boys hunted deer together, and the boys always said it was "all about the sandwiches!"
Following retirement, his love of helping others took over and he became very generous to his family and friends, gifting them with cash, hunting trips, his guns and ammunition, tools, and all his fishing equipment.
He considered it a privilege to hire others to do things he was no longer able to do because of his health. He developed COPD not only from smoking but from chlorine gas and sewer gas exposure throughout his career. His lung collapsed last year, and then again this year, and it would not heal.
Left to mourn are his wife Deb; and four grandchildren, Ryleigh, Joshua and Lydia Kindelspire of Fitchburg WI, and Austin Cahoon of Tower City ND. Also, sisters Judy Sanford, Jane (Cliff) Stirewaldt, Ava Holub; in-laws, Tom (Lucy) Koehler, Steve Koehler, Brian Koehler, Sarah Koehler; nieces Jackie Nordlinder, Arnel (Noel) Cervantes, Tiffany (Randy) Heier, Teresa (Gabe) Line, Alexandra Bittner, nephews Lloyd Fischer, Trever Fischer, Tod Holub and Andrew Buck. Del was predeceased by his parents, his sons Adam Kindelspire and Aaron Kindelspire, mother and father-in-law Rev. Luther & Mildred Koehler, sister-in-law Susan Bittner, brother-in-law Lewis Holub, and a niece.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND. His service will be live streamed on the Dahlstrom Funeral Home website www.dahlstromfuneralhome.com on his obituary page. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery near LaMoure.
