A graveside service celebrating the life of Deborah Jean Ward Sims was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Zion Hill Cemetery in Jasper, Texas.
Deborah died Monday, December 13, 2021 at her home in Jasper. A native and lifelong resident of Jasper, Deborah was a member of the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She worked as a medication aide for Timberidge Health and Rehab in Jasper and for the Glen Ray Goodman Unit in Jasper. She was also a customer service agent for Walmart in Jasper. She loved being outdoors and caring for her many farm animals.
Deborah is survived by her six children, Candie Ann Marie Sims Witherspoon (Michael) of Iowa, LA, Tracy Lynn Sims McCarty (William) of Tomahawk, WI, William Ward "Bill" Sims (Robyn) of Granbury, TX, Albert Alonzo Sims of Jasper, TX, Amanda Ruth Sims Stone (Caleb) of Sevierville, TN, Marcus Matthew Sims (Jamie) of Jasper, TX; eight grandchildren, Hunter Reed Brandt (Jay), Sarah Michelle Witherspoon, Hannah Elyse Brandt, Emily Nicole Sims (My'Kael Tyler), Joshua Aaron Sims (Elida Thompson), Isabella Jade Stone, Isaiah William Stone, and Reagan Amanda Stone; two great-grandchildren, Emmett Avery Sims and Alijah Xavier Tyler; Siblings: Wilburn Ward, Sr. (Pearl) of Lufkin, TX, Vernon Ray Ward (Faye) of Jasper, TX, and Patricia Diane Ward Brush of Jasper, TX; several nephews and nieces who were much loved and her pets, Horse?Blue Eyes Exotica, Dogs?Alpha, Whiskey and Bubby, Donkeys?Pickles and Little Momma, Geese?Harry and Henrietta, Cows?Ferdinand, Daisy, Whopper Jr., Sadie, Ginger, and Hershey.
She was preceded in death by parents Herman Eugene Ward and Mary Margaret Goines, siblings Joseph Daniel Sandefer and Sherry Ann Ward Jordan, and beloved husband Hubert Ray Sims.
