Deanna Faye (Derby) Ellis, age 79 of the Villages, Florida, passed away at Keystone Place, Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, on Wednesday, March 11, after a lengthy illness.
Born and raised in Westport, Nova Scotia, Deanna came to Massachusetts when she married her husband of 51 years, Charles B. Ellis. A long-time resident of Dedham, Massachusetts, Deanna had a decades long career with Sears Roebuck. She was an active member of and volunteer at the Church of the Good Shepherd where she had many cherished friends.
Deanna and Charles were life-long Red Sox fans and enjoyed square dancing. She was an avid golfer. Upon retirement, Deanna and Charles moved to The Villages, Florida, where she enjoyed many friendships and a great number of golf matches, once getting a hole in one! She was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church.
Deanna was predeceased by her husband, Charles; her parents, Whitney and Muriel Derby (Westport, Nova Scotia); and her brother, Hugh Derby (Halifax, Nova Scotia). She is survived by her brother, Arden Derby, and his wife, Jane (Westport, Nova Scotia); her sister-in-law, Charlotte Hefford (York, Maine); her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Judith Ellis (Wareham, Massachusetts); nieces Tiffany Derby, Sarah Claytor, Amy Sununu, and Jessica Ellis; nephews Colin Derby, Mark Hefford, and Eric Ellis; several dear grandnieces and grandnephews; and two especially kind and supportive friends, Shirley Palazzo and Barbara Kadow.
Deanna's funeral will be held at an appropriate time. Gifts in Deanna's memory may be made to The Church of the Good Shepherd, 62 Cedar Street, Dedham, MA 02026 or to a charity of your choosing.
