Dean Robert Schuttemeier passed into the eternal care of our Lord on December 9, 2021 at his home at the age of 73.
He was born March 27, 1948 to Armin and Esther (Busitzky) Schuttemeier in in LaCrosse, WI. He was baptized at home in Eitzen, MN. He was one of 4 siblings. In 1950 the family moved to Spring Grove MN, where Dean has since been a lifelong resident.
He was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spring Grove in 1962. He attended Spring Grove High School and graduated in 1966. He was drafted into the US Army and served from Jan 1969 to August 1970 and was stationed at Long Binh, Vietnam. In 1973 he married Randi (Vesterse) and the couple had two daughters, Robin and Dawn. They later divorced. He worked locally as a cement mason, and then as Rural Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service for over 30 years until his retirement.
Dean was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Spring Grove and American Legion Post 249.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and ATV rides. But more than anything, he enjoyed time spent with his daughters and grandsons. He rarely missed the grandkids' programs and athletics and was always willing to help get the boys to their games and events. Being with all of 'his boys' was the greatest joy of his life.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother; his parents; a sister, Alice (Staggemeyer); and brother-in-law Wayne Christopherson.
He is survived by his daughters Robin (Shawn) Bartell of Hesper, IA and Dawn Schuttemeier of Caledonia, MN, grandsons Eliot and Emery Bartell and Caleb and Matthew Ranzenberger; close friends and co-grandparents Randi (Roger) Vick of Caledonia, MN; brother Leon (Barb) Schuttemeier, Spring Grove; sister Betty Christopherson, Cape Coral, FL; an uncle, Fremont Schuttemeier of Eitzen, MN and brother-in-law Rick Staggemeyer of Spring Grove; nephews Bruce (Shannon) Schuttemeier; John St. Mary, Jim St. Mary and Duane (MaryAnn) Christopherson; and special great-nephews Brandon, Brady and Brock Schuttemeier.
