Dawn Rae (Helmlinger) Dickey passed away in her home on May 4th, 2024, in Niles, MI after a 4-month battle with cancer. She was born on September 16th, 1957, to Art Helmlinger and Beverly Stroup in Niles, MI. On June 27th, 1981, she married the love of her life, Ross Dickey. They raised 5 children: Matthew (Jennie) Dickey of Niles, MI; Michael Dickey of Valparaiso, IN; Rebekah Dickey of Springfield, VA; Daniel (Amanda) Dickey of Seoul, South Korea; and Trent Dickey of Niles, MI. They have two granddaughters, Addison and Ella Dickey.
Dawn graduated from Brethren Christian in 1975. She was the backbone of Dimensions In Tooling in Granger, IN, the company her husband started in their backyard in 1987. Dawn attended Community Church of Edwardsburg for all of her adult life. She served the Lord for many years as a kindergarten Sunday School teacher and filled many roles in the Awana program.
Dawn was a generous person with a huge heart for others. She loved children, especially her own, and she cherished her role as a mother. She also adored her role as a grandmother. She loved her granddaughters and was always happy to have them with her, taking them on many adventures. She homeschooled her children while keeping the books for her husband's business. She was always looking for ways to help her family. If a need was mentioned, she went out of her way to attend to it. Birthdays and holidays were always a special time. She will be greatly missed by her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Debbie Schroder. She will be greatly missed by her twin sister, Diane (Mark) Britton, her 8 nephews, 3 nieces, and 32 great-nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 9th, from 3:00-5:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 pm at Community Church of Edwardsburg, 28647 US-12, Edwardsburg, MI.
Arrangements are by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg.
