James David Young, 66, departed this realm from his Tupelo residence at 10:04 AM Monday, May 1, 2023 after a long battle with heart failure. David was the only child born to the late James Young and Helen Riley Young on October 5, 1956. He lived his whole life in Tupelo and grew up as a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He graduated from Tupelo High School in 1974 and attended Ole Miss. A rabid Rebel fan, David enjoyed life and the fellowship of his tight circle of friends from High School and beyond. David spent much of his working life as an Office Equipment Salesman, at which he excelled. He enjoyed golf all his life, watching golf on TV, and playing racketball. He was excellent in water sports especially skiing. David married Kay Musick Young on August 30, 1995 and she survives.
Family and friends will gather at 2 PM Saturday, May 6, 2023 under the Pavilion at Romie's Grocery on West Jackson St. to celebrate David's life. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be assisting their friends.
David is survived by his wife, Kay Young, and members of her family: sisters Lisa Carr (Charlie), Valerie Park, Nancy Worrall, and Emily Endsley (Rick), and their families; a close niece and nephew, Whitney Harris and Chase Carr; and his lifelong group of close friends, whom he cherished. His beloved cat, Phoebe, survives as well. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Young.
