We regretfully announce the passing of David Russell Tyson Jr., 62, on July 13, 2022. David had a difficult battle with Transverse Myelitis. David passed away surrounded by his wife Sheila of 27 years, his daughter Jacqueline Dijon, and friend Kelly Lehmann.
He grew up in McCandless Township. He was a 1978 graduate from North Allegheny High School.
David had a passion for soccer. He played goalie from his freshman year to his senior year. The team went to the state championships in 1976 and 1977. The team was a close-knit group of guys. Their strong bond of friendship is still present today.
David then attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he received his Business Administration BS in 1982.
David was a devoted husband to his wife, Sheila Tyson. They got married on April 27,1995 in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. They loved the beach, especially the Caribbean. They moved to Hagerstown, MD in 1998.
Dave was a man of many talents; he especially loved to cook for everyone he loved. He had an infectious laugh and poured his heart into everything he did. Everyone who knew him, loved him. He was an amazing pappy to his three grandsons: Gavin, Bradyn, and Easton. He enjoyed spoiling them and cheering them on at all of their sporting events. He also enjoyed watching his favorite teams play: The Steelers, the Penguins, and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Dave was employed by Washington County Public Schools. He worked as an Instructional Assistant where he enjoyed working with his students and colleagues.
David is survived by his loving parents David Russel and Jean Elizabeth Tyson, his wife Sheila Tyson, his daughter Jacqueline Dijon and her husband Josh Knable, three very special grandchildren Gavin, Bradyn, and Easton, his sister Bonnie Haltzman, and nieces Ashley Katz and Jessica Haltzman.
