David G. Spencer passed away peacefully on Monday April 19, 2021 at The Ascutney House in Ascutney, Vermont. He was born in Windsor on April 25, 1936. He graduated from Windsor High School. He worked at Cone Automatic Machine Co. in Windsor as a draftsman before working at Jones & Lampson Tool Company in Springfield, VT as a purchasing agent. He retired from Vermont Rebuild, Inc. He was also a member of the National Guard. David was a lifelong resident of Windsor and enjoyed playing golf, camping with his young family and coaching his son David's Little League teams. He was always at his children's swim meets and was a big fan of high school sports (after playing baseball and basketball himself) as well as the Red Sox. He enjoyed his trips to Boston to Fenway Park. He was a member of the PTA, WHS Booster Club and he could always be heard in the crowd at the basketball games in the old WHS auditorium. He continued to cheer on the Windsor teams even later in years and one year was awarded the Booster's Fan of the Year. David was an avid coin collector and an excellent story teller. He was very interested in his family history and if you asked the right question he could tell you all about it. He always enjoyed good conversation. His travels included summer trips with his family to Newburyport, MA, Connecticut, Washington, DC and Maryland. A lifelong resident of Windsor, he was predeceased by his former wife Priscilla Spencer, his parents Violet Jaycox and Stephen T. Spencer, and his three brothers and their wives, Stephen M. Spencer (Nettie), Winston Spencer (Claudine) and Dalton Spencer (Dorothy) as well as an infant brother, Milford. He leaves behind his three children, Gail Saur (Gary), Sandra Maxham (Craig Williams) and David (Cindy Thomas). His six grand-children, eight great grand-children and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Houghtonville Cemetery where he will be buried near his parents and infant brother. Contributions may be made in his name to The Ascutney House, 5157 US Route 5, Ascutney, VT 05030. The wonderful care he received there during the last weeks of his life was a great comfort to David's family.
