David W. Smith of Bath went home to the Lord and to his beloved wife Judy on September 30, 2021.
Dave was born in Chicago on June 4,1934 and lived in the Chicago area until his family relocated to Bay Village in 1948.
Upon graduating from Bay High School, Dave enrolled at Northwestern University, where he met Judy. Dave and Judy married in 1958 and started their family in Chicago. They settled for good in the Cleveland area in 1964.
David worked in the insurance business for Mass Mutual and New England Life.
David and his wife Judy had a personal faith in Jesus Christ. They attended St. Luke's Anglican Church. More than anything, they blessed people through their friendship, generosity, encouragement, and just all-out fun.
Dave was a passionate Cleveland sports fan; and he never gave up on his beloved NU Wildcats. Dave was also an avid golfer for most of his life, and he finally got his first and only hole-in-one just two months prior to his passing.
Dave is remembered by friends and family for his passion, energy, devotion, generosity, wisdom, and most important, love. He cared day in and day out for Judy while she suffered from Alzheimer's for the last 12 years of her life.
Dave is preceded in death by Judy, and survived by two sons Andy (married to Brooke) and Ben; 3 daughters Gretchen (married to Terry) Ellen, and Katy (married to Gary); six grandchildren Alex, Molly, Amelia, Calvin, Marley, Evan ; and his dog Pumpkin.
Visiting Hours will be held at St. Luke's Church 3810 Ridgewood Rd. Copley OH 44321 at 9:30am followed by a service at 10:30am on Friday, October 15. The event will be held outdoors weather permitting. If the event is held indoors, the family requests guests to please wear masks due to the pandemic.
