David Franklin Smith, 81, of Ironton, Ohio passed at home, Monday, June 8, 2020. Mr. Smith was retired from construction and a past member of Scott United Methodist Church. He was born in Maysville, Kentucky on December 25, 1938 to the late Robert Lee Smith, Sr. and Goldie Belle Stewart Smith.
He is survived by his friend, Billie R. Day of Ironton, OH; his three daughters, Carol Baker (Reginald) of Columbus, OH, Anglia Powell (Amos) of Dayton, OH, Mildred Smith of Bradenton, FL and his two sons, Robert D. Jones of Killeen, TX and Eric D. Smith of Winchester, KY and numerous grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister, Opal Greene of Maysville, KY and three brothers, Charles Smith, Arvin Smith and Marvin Smith, all of North Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Frances A. Jones, two brothers, Robert Lee Smith, Jr. and William Smith and four sisters, Vivian Taft, Rannie Mae Jackson, Nadine Myrick and Judith Lofton.
A public visitation for David F. Smith will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home on Saturday, June 20, 2020 from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM with a private service following for his immediate family.
A public committal service will follow the private service at 2:15 PM Saturday, June 20, 2020 at the Green Acres Cemetery, US Hwy 62, Maysville, KY 41056. Rev. Claude Taylor Commodore, Pastor of Scott United Methodist Church will officiate the services. Condolences at knoxbrothersfuneralhome.com
