David Tyrone (Ty) Sledge Jr., age 56 of Silver Creek, passed away Tuesday, February 16th at home with family. Mr. Sledge was born March 16th, 1964, in Rome, Georgia, son of the late David Sledge Sr., and late Joyce Elaine Sledge. A lifelong resident of Floyd County, Ty held many jobs, including working for Coosa Baking Company (Earthgrains), owning DTS Motors, Piggly Wiggly in Lindale, Walmart, and Rhinehart equipment. He was preceded in death by his father: David Sledge Sr., his mother: Joyce Elaine Sledge, grandfather: John David Sledge, grandmother: Jackie Sledge, nephew: Jordan Sledge, father in law: Rev. Glen Studdard. Survivors include his wife: Donna Sledge, son: Dustin Sledge, son: Drew Sledge (wife Elise), granddaughter: Olivia Jones, grandson: Memphis Ty Sledge, brother: Todd Sledge (wife Jill & son Skyler), sister: Tiffany Sledge Williams (husband Tim, daughters: Brittany Williams, and Samantha Williams, sons: Dakota Davis and Evan Williams), uncle: Ken Sledge (wife Beverly), uncle: Robert Sledge (wife Wilma), aunt: Faye. S. Downs, aunt: Shirley Money, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers include: Dewayne Johnson, Dean Lindsey, Don Jenkins, Skyler Sledge, Kyle Studdard, Tim Williams, Evan Williams, Shayne Sledge, and Chris Sims. Honorary pallbearers include Brylan Sweatt and A.J. Dowdy. Funeral services will be held at 3pm on Monday, February 22nd at Good Shepherd funeral home in West Rome, with Rev. Doug Studdard and Rev. Justin Grant officiating. The family will receive friends from 1pm until the hour of service on Monday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 2750 Shorter Ave, Rome, Georgia. The family will have a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the North Georgia chapter of the Alzheimer's Association in Ty's name, or to Tapestry Hospice of Northwest Georgia.
