David Charles Seavey of North Pembroke Rd, Pembroke, NH, age 77 died
on September 5, 2021 at Carriage Hill Assisted Living in Madbury, NH with his son by his side after a 9-month battle with brain cancer.
He was born on October 12, 1943 in Manchester, NH; the son of Earle Raymond and Ruth (Lang) Seavey.
He worked for UNH Cooperative Extension for 33 years. Upon retiring, he started a pruning business where he maintained trees and shrubs at businesses and residences all over southern NH. He was a lover of the outdoors and a staunch defender of the land and open spaces. He was an avid drummer playing in various bands from his time in college to present day and even began teaching his granddaughter during his illness.
David is survived by his wife of 14 years, Xiaoli Yang of Murrells Inlet, SC; his son, Peter Seavey, his daughter-in-law Cheryl and his grandchildren Evelyn and Norah of Northwood, NH; His nephew Michael Godzyk, his wife Lisa and son Maddox; and his niece Melanie Graham.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, sister Marion Godzyk and daughter Christina Eldridge.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the compassionate care he received at Carriage Hill, the incredible support from Granite VNA and Cornerstone VNA and love and support from Rev. Sarah Rockwell throughout his illness.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in David's name may be made to the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests.
Calling hours will be at 4pm-5pm on Thursday, September 9 with brief ceremony at 5pm, Purdy Memorial Chapel, 2 Concord Rd (Rt4) Lee, NH with Rev. Sarah Rockwell of St. Andrews Episcopal Church officiating.
