David Edwin "Dave" Runge, 74, of Logan, Ohio, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022, at his residence. He was born December 9, 1947 in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of the late Edwin Arthur and Anna June (Ice) Runge.
Dave was a member of the labor organization, United Auto Workers of America (UAW) working on the control drive line at Babcox and Wilcox in Willoughby, OH. While there he led fellow auto workers through many union negotiations and labor strikes as Dave's first instinct was stand up and fight for others. Later, Dave worked as an auto mechanic in Logan, OH and was also known for stopping to help anyone stranded with car troubles no matter where else he needed to be.
He was a kind and loving man, generous with his love and affection, but also possessing a razor sharp wit. He practiced the Lutheran faith, but also lived it?a man of simple needs who didn't ask for much and gave from what he had. Dave was a music lover, a singer/songwriter and guitarist for many years. He was also a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and loyal to the Cleveland Browns. Dave was truly one of a kind and his friends and family will miss him greatly.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Wilma Beougher of Columbus, Ohio; three daughters, April Scott of Worthington, Ohio, Erica (Mike) Diloretto of Upper Arlington, Ohio, and Caroline (Ken) Richards of Westerville, Ohio; two brothers, Brent (Stephanie) Runge of Logan, Ohio and Mark (Susan) Runge of Cummings, Kansas; one sister, Rachael (Gus) Zandt of Binghamton, New York; six grandchildren, Claudia and Gwyneth Scott, Vincent and Franco Diloretto and Emily and Lauren Richards, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his beloved son, Brett Alan Runge.
The funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Roberts Funeral Home- Logan, officiated by Joshua N. Martin.
A private graveside service will be held at a later time in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Good Hope Township, Hocking County, Ohio.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 11 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dave's memory to the Hocking County Humane Society, 36960 Hocking Drive, Logan, OH 43138.
