David Prendergast, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend, passed away on July 20, 2021. A lifelong resident of Chester, he was born to John and Marie Prendergast on July 21, 1954. He graduated from St. James High School and worked at Exxon Mobil for 33 years before his retirement in 2013. David was a deeply devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He lived a life of serving others in many ways, including coaching volleyball at St. Kevin School and volunteering at the Chester Senior Center. In his spare time, he loved going on adventures near and far with his beloved wife of 40 years, rooting for Philadelphia sports teams, and spending time with his children, grandson, extended family and lifelong friends. Dave was a friend to everyone he met, always rooted for the underdog, and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He is survived by his wife, Reba Prendergast, daughters Kaitlin Baumgartner (Scott) and Kelly Lilly (Shane), grandson Grant Baumgartner, siblings Michael Prendergast, Mark Prendergast, Patrice Pankonien, Shawn Prendergast, and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 26th at 10:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church 430 Valleybrook Rd. Glen Mills, Pa 19342. Friends and family are invited to call from 9:00-10:15am in Church. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Due to health concerns, masking will be mandatory for viewing and mass at the request of the family.
