David W. Pickman, Sr. was born on February 9, 1944, in Hartford, CT, and died on September 30, 2021 peacefully in Concord Hospital of heart failure. He was the son of the late Harold Pickman and Mercy Pickman (Davies) of Hartford, CT.
David Pickman spent his early years in Bloomfield, CT graduating from Bloomfield High then worked as a pipe fitter. He moved his family to Bradford, NH in 1970 to provide a better opportunity for his family. "Dave" as he was known, became involved in the community right away. He was part of the rescue squad, the fire department, Shriners and a town selectman. In 1972 he started his own family business "Pickman & Sons Plumbing and Heating" which still serves the community under the leadership of his son, James Pickman.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janice Pickman of Bradford, NH, his children David Pickman, Jr and his wife Mary Ellen, Debra Flinkstrom and her husband Paul, James Pickman and his wife Joni, Tracy Leroux and her husband Ken, Tami Foss and her husband Mark, (14) grandchildren and (2) great grandchildren.
Dave and Jan spent winters in Florida for 13 years where they fit in with the "snowbird" community and made a lot of new friends. Dave picked up his love of cars in his later years and could often be found at one of the local car shows displaying one of his "toys".
He will always be remembered and loved for his generosity, willingness to help and his sense of humor.
Friends may call at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, NH on Monday, October 4, 2021 from 5 - 7 P.M.
