David L. Perry, 79, of Greenwood, IN, formerly of Peoria, IL went to be with his Lord and Savior, whom he lovingly served, on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Bickford Assisted Living in Greenwood, IN.
He was born April 18, 1943, in Bremerton, Washington to James R. and Helen H. (Coerber) Perry. He grew up in Craig Colorado and married Marilynn R. (Whittington) Perry on March 26, 1966, in Ft. Collins, Colorado, she survives.
David was a 1961 graduate of Moffat County High School in Craig, Colorado, received his B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University and his master's degree from Bradley University in Peoria, IL.
He had been a design engineer with expertise in structural analysis and welds for fabricated structures for Caterpillar in Peoria, IL for thirty-six years.
David was an active member of Bethany Baptist Church in Edwards, IL, serving in many capacities, and was also involved in the Promise Keepers movement. He and his wife also served as Grief-Share facilitators for over eight years. His hobbies included running, hunting, following Formula One racing, he was a member of the National Rifle Association and Silhouette Competitions, attending Southern Gospel concerts, and traveling with his wife.
Survivors include his loving wife Marilynn R. (Whittington) Perry now of Greenwood, IN, a daughter, Tricia D. Sickmeier (John) of Greenwood, IN, Lou and Stacey DiGrazia of Elgin, IL; They were married 56 years, and he dearly loved his two girls and ten grandchildren: Nathan, Christian, Laura, Aaron & Jonathan Sickmeier, of Greenwood; David DiGrazia (Hailey) of Gallatin, TN, Daniel DiGrazia of Nashville, TN, Elizabeth "Dev" DiGrazia, Normal, IL; Jonathan and Rowen Gerber of Ft. Wayne, IN. He has three brothers James L. Perry (Toloa) of Cazenovia, NY, Bill Perry of Idaho Falls, ID and Ron Perry (Ann) of Cedaredge, CO and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Sondra L. DiGrazia on October 30, 2004.
Pastor Lyall Sutton will conduct a Celebration of Life service on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 11am, at Bethany Baptist Church, 7422 North Heinz Lane, Edwards, IL 61528. The family will receive friends from 10 until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Baptist Church Missions, (see address above) or at www.bethanycentral.org; or to the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, Building 31, Room 5C27, 31 Center Drive, MSC 2292, Bethesda, MD 20892. Or to the charity of your choice.
Burial was accorded at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN.
