David "Fuzz" Ostby, 71, of Bloomington passed away peacefully at home Saturday, August 6, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Born January 16, 1951 in Washington, IN, he was the son of the late Christian and Alice (Knobf) Ostby.
David was a 1969 Graduate of Washington High School, where he played basketball, and later attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute.
He began his early career in sales at Dean Tire and Rubber Company in Louisville KY. After 12 years at Dean, he became Vice President of Sales at Lexington Tire Company. One of David's greatest joys, however, was being the Owner and Operator of Tire and Wheel Centers in Bloomington for 28 years, retiring in 2012. Dave loved his customers, and thought of his employees as family.
David attended Sherwood Oaks Christian Church and was a loving husband, father and grandfather who had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed camping at Patoka Lake, boating, skiing, drag racing, car shows and spending time with his family.
Dave was proud to be a founding member of the 20th Century Car Club in Washington, IN. He sponsored many races and drivers at Bloomington Speedway, and provided training for Automotive Vocational School students at Bloomington High School North.
Dave also loved playing golf with Jack, Bob, and Mike. He participated in, and sponsored many charity golf tournaments.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Linda (Hill) Ostby, two daughters, Brooke Feldman (Dr. Jerrod Feldman), of Rochester, and Susan Ostby of Bloomington, two grandchildren, Andrew David Feldman (Jessie) of Noblesville, and Emma Grace Feldman of Pawtucket, RI. Also surviving are two brothers, Dick Ostby (Gayle) of Washington, and Chris Ostby (Carolyn) of Louisville, KY, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 12-3pm Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 South Old State Road 37 in Bloomington. Funeral Services will be 3pm Thursday at the funeral home, with Tom Ellsworth officiating.
The family will hold a private burial at Bethel Cemetery in Freelandville, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
