David Henry Oliver, 58, of East Jordan, died on October 17, 2023, in Traverse City.
He was born on August 15, 1965, in Newark, California, the son of Bob and Marilyn (Peters) Oliver. As a young child, he moved back to Michigan with his family. David grew up in East Jordan and graduated from East Jordan High School.
David loved music and playing drums. He played drums in the car on the seat, on the back of chairs, on siblings, and on the dining room table even though there wasn't a drum there. He also loved dogs. He raised puppies until they were ready for training at the Leader Dog School.
He had many jobs throughout his life, including, food service, lawn care, carpentry, machine shop, greenhouse and serving as an EMT.
David is survived by one daughter, Kim Oliver; one son, Michael Oliver; his mother, Marilyn; four grandchildren; one brother, Bob (Julie) Oliver; one sister, Sara Oliver; a close friend, Lisa Herholtz; and their dog Lita. He was preceded in death by his father in 2006 and a brother, Christopher Oliver in 2022.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at the Lighthouse Missionary Church, 7824 Rogers Rd, East Jordan, MI.
