
David Lynn Olive
Dave was born in Reno, Nevada, on August 12, 1960, and graduated from High School there in 1978. He died in Amarillo, Texas on June 18, 2012. Dave was a man who was known for his integrity and love of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
David Lynn Olive, 51, passed away June 18, 2012, after a valiant 15-month battle with brain cancer. He was born August 12, 1960 in Reno, NV, to Kenneth Reynolds and Barbara Goodwin Olive. Dave attended schools in Reno, NV, graduating from Wooster High School in 1978. He later completed his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
Dave was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served a 2-year mission in Chile from 1979-81. He was married for time and all eternity to Cynthia Rae Prusia in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple on May 26, 1984. Dave and Cindy are the parents of two children - daughter Caitlin Patricia, and son, Isaac Reynolds. Later Dave and Cindy welcomed their niece, Kathryn Elizabeth Olive, into their family.
Dave was a lifelong member of the Boy Scouts of America. He progressed from a Cub Scout to the rank of Eagle Scout and served as a Scout Leader in Utah, Colorado, and Texas. He loved working with the young men of his Church and enjoyed leading them on hiking, biking, and camping adventures. Dave was an avid bicyclist, setting records for riding a tandem bicycle across Utah.
Dave enjoyed a 30-year career in the energy industry, with his occupations progressing from a meter reader to Vice President of Project Development. His business ethics and personal integrity will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Olive, of Amarillo; daughter, Caitlin Olive of South Jordan, UT; son, Isaac (Callan) Olive of Lubbock; niece, Katie Forbes (Robert) of Orem, Utah; parents, Kenneth and Barbara Olive of Reno, NV; 3 brothers, Ron of Orem, UT, Alan (VaLynn) of Newberg, OR and Eric (Marla) of Castaic, CA; 2 sisters, Juli Jackson of Reno, NV and Sarah (Jamie) McDaniel of Reno, NV; his grandson expected to arrive in September, and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
A Celebration of Dave's Life (a casual gathering of friends and family) will be held Wednesday, June 27, from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., at the Wolflin House (1511 Wolflin Avenue, Amarillo, Texas).
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 28, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 5401 South Bell St., Amarillo. Services are being provided by Cox Funeral Home.
Burial will be at the Highland City Cemetery (6300 West 11000 North, Highland, Utah), on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. A luncheon for family and friends will be held immediately following the graveside service at the LDS Chapel located at 10390 North Alpine Highway, Utah. Warenski Funeral Home will oversee the Utah services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Dave's favorite charity, LIVESTRONG, 2201 E. 6th Street, Austin, TX 78702.
