Loving husband, father, and grandfather. Outgoing, kind to everyone and loved to tell funny stories. Hard worker and volunteered in many organizations. WWII veteran.
OLDASHI, DavidPassed away on August 12, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Adeline Woods Oldashi of Big Stone Gap, VA and Daytona Beach, FL and by two brothers, Philip and Joseph Oldashi of Daytona Beach, FL. David was born in Greenville, TN but grew up in Big Stone Gap, VA. He graduated from Big Stone Gap High School and the University of Kentucky where he played clarinet in the UK Wildcat Marching Band. David proudly served his country in the Air Force during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a long time member of Belmont United Methodist Church and the Jessie Rustin Sunday School Class. David also served as the Commander of the Brentwood VFW Post 9687 from 2005-2006. In addition, he served as a Past President of the University of Kentucky Greater Nashville Alumni Association. David worked in the retail business for 36 years as a buyer in several department stores including Harveys and Cain- Sloan Department Stores. David loved his family, his friends, his country, his church, volunteering, golf and the Kentucky Wildcats. David is survived by his wife, Geraldine "Gerry" of 70 years; his two daughters, Connie (John) Lee, Brentwood, TN, Susan (Mark) Russell, Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Shannon (Dan) Price, Kristen (Rick) Merriam, Birmingham, AL, Trey Lee, New York, NY, Brian (Lizzy) Russell, Brentwood, TN, Nathan and Hannah Russell, Tampa, FL and two great grandchildren, Luke Harper Merriam and Eleanor Katheryn Price. Rev. Linda Johnson will conduct funeral services at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 16th, in the sanctuary of Belmont United Methodist Church, located at 21st and Acklen Avenue. Visitation with the family will be from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the church. Relatives will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Franklin Hood, Bob Hunt, Terry McDonald, Charles Fentress and the Jessie Rustin Sunday School Class.
