David Joseph Murray, 54, of Pittsfield, passed away at his home, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, after a courageous 9-month battle with esophageal cancer.
Born in Pittsfield on December 18, 1967, to Frank and Cathy Morin Murray, Dave attended Taconic High School.
A carpenter by trade, Dave was employed and loved by his work family at Berkshire Property Managers of Pittsfield. He also worked for many years as a carpenter at Camp Winadu.
Dave was a lifelong NY Giants and NY Yankees fan, and loved playing the drums with his friends in a local band. He enjoyed listening to music and being outdoors on a hot sunny day, hosting cookouts and parties, and working on his truck.
He is survived by two daughters, Amanda Murray of Cheshire, and Katie Murray of Pittsfield; his life partner, Pamela Czach of Pittsfield; a sister, Kimberly Murray of Pittsfield; two brothers, Martin Farrell of Cheshire and Shane Farrell of Pittsfield; his mother and stepfather, Cathy and Michael Farrell of Pittsfield; a son, David Joseph "DJ" Sloan of Florida; three grandsons, Aiden, Julian, and Robert; a niece, several nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Scott Murray.
Dave will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for David Joseph Murray will be held Tuesday, January 11, at 7:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Christopher A. Fedoryshyn, Pastor of St. Mark Church, officiating. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Those attending will be required to wear a mask. A celebration of life will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of the Funeral Home.
