David was 82 years old when the Lord called him home on July 19, 2021. He was born in Oxnard in 1938 to Abraham and Lucy Mu?oz.
While growing up in Oxnard, dad enjoyed riding horses and eating the various fruits and vegetables growing in our local fields. Dad often carried a salt shaker to eat the tomatoes and lemons when playing in the fields.
Dad married his high school sweetheart, Jennie after graduation. Together they raised five children in their El Rio home. They were both involved in the community, church activities and helped start the El Rio Bobby Sox. David coached for the El Rio Little League for many years as well.
Throughout his life, dad worked various jobs; restaurant work, machinist, taxi cab driver, and diesel tire mechanic and finally retired from Ventura Unified School District as a school bus driver, the job that most deeply spoke to his heart.
Dad enjoyed working on cars, camping, traveling and going on road trips. He also loved going to the Chumash Casino and passing time with friends at the local Moose Lodge and VFW.
Dad was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie, his parents, Abraham and Lucy and siblings Sara Pyle, Frances Hernandez, Abraham and Mario Mu?oz. He is survived by his five children; Theresa, Lucy, David Jr, Arthur and Dad's cowboy, Richard. Grandchildren; Martin, Laura and Ruben, and three great-grandchildren; Michael, Gunner and Ethan.
A special thank you to Carol Valles for being his caring companion for many years.
We'd also like to thank all those who were instrumental in taking care of Dad's medical needs and who provided exceptional care to our dad; Dr. E. Banman, Dr. S Patel, Drs. S and D Roberg, Dr. Chen, Barbara Lee from Aspire, Tamara, Tyler, Lusciana and Peri from Los Robles.
