David William McCarthy, 66, died on July 23, 2021 in Cathedral City, CA. David formally of Dubuque, Iowa was born on August 2, 1954, son of Justin and Mary Jane McCarthy. David was employed at A Y McDonald for 29 years, he was a member of the Machinist Union Local 1238, David moved to California after he retired in the summer of 2011. David enjoyed golfing and going to the casino, but his favorite thing to do was watch the Dodgers play, especially with his step-son Alan. David is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Tom. David is survived by a bother Mike and longtime companion Yolanda Apel, as well as his children Alan, Rosie, and Shala. David's wish was to be cremated, there will be no visitation or funeral services. However, once his ashes are returned to Iowa there will be a celebration of life at the Eagles Club in Dubuque at a later date.
