David Bryan Martin, 79, died peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2021, at the Rainey Hospice House after a brief illness.
Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late David Bryan Martin, Sr. and Thelma King Martin. He was a graduate of Boys High School, attended Clemson University and graduated from Erskine College. David recently retired in 2020 after serving 55 years with the Department of Social Services and received a Distinguished Service Award from the state. He was a longtime devoted member of First Baptist Church of Anderson.
Survivors include his two sisters, Marietta Martin Bolt of Greenville and Betty Martin Cornwell of Greenville; five nieces, Melanie Bolt Pouch (Will), Tammy Bolt Watson (Jim), Paige Bolt Armstrong, of Greenville, Johannah Cornwell Lambert (Rhett) and Anne-Ross Edwards (Colin), of Atlanta. He is also survived by 16 grand nieces and nephews and a special family friend, Carolyn Johnson.
Due to Covid concerns, a private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, at Old Silver Brook Cemetery conducted by Dr. James G. Wooten.
