David P. Larson, age 77, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, formerly of Hudson, OH, passed away at home Sunday, November 3, 2019 with his beloved wife, of 54 years, Susan (Hallstrom) Larson by his side. Born to the late John Paul and Ebba (Gronquist) Larson, Dave was a first generation American, born on the south side of Chicago, Illinois. His father took a job with GM-Terex(formerly Euclid) and moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where Dave started kindergarten and completed his grade school years, graduating from John Marshall High School. He enjoyed selling and delivering newspapers across the west side of Cleveland winning many trips and prizes. After high school he attended Purdue University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science of Civil Engineering and where he met his wife Sue. Right after graduation Dave and Sue were married and Dave took a job with GM-Terex, in their Engineering-Sales Group in Hudson, Ohio. Dave and Sue had one son, Robert P. Larson, soon after moving to Ohio. Dave enjoyed 25 years in the pursuit of the sale and with his talents and integrity he was propelled up the corporate ladder in which the family was transferred to five different locations, including an assignment in Scotland, U.K. The last assignment brought him back to the headquarters in Hudson where he was awarded a "corner office." He loved the idea that he could be at work within minutes, unless he had to stop for one of the two traffic lights in Hudson, on his drive to work. GM sold Terex and Dave chose to take a position with Pay Hauler and commuted weekly to Illinois not wanting to move from Hudson. When his son Rob graduated from his alma mater with a Construction Engineering degree the two of them decided to form Scandinavian Signature Construction Company, building on the family's Swedish heritage and a desire to do quality work. He thrived helping create beautiful and functional homes, kitchens, and additions, always making new and lasting friendships with clients, business associates, and anyone else he met in his daily activities. Owning his own business was one of Dave's life long dreams, which he participated daily in through his final days. If he was not "playing" with his business he could be found in his gardens, swinging in a palm tree cleaning off dead fronds, or engaging in conversations of religion and sharing the love and promises of Christ. He was a loving husband to Susan, encouraging father to Robert (Patricia) Larson; dear grandfather of Matthew P.(Lucy), Daniel P., and Jonathan P. Larson; and cherished son of the late John Paul and Ebba (Gronquist) Larson. A memorial service was held on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Hudson, Ohio. Interment has taken place privately at Moore's Chapel Cemetery, Bath, Ohio. Contributions may be made in David's name to Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) (www.dav.org)
