David Martin Gonzales, 52, was called to be with our Lord on June 4, 2021. Husband of Elizabeth (Liz) Quinonez, of 35 of years of friendship, love and marriage together.
Born on June 25, 1968 in Port Hueneme, CA, son to Joe and Rita Gonzales, a lifelong resident of Oxnard, CA, grew up with four brothers and one sister. He attended Channel Islands High School. He worked throughout the years for a catering truck company, maintenance/custodian company, chiropractor office assistant and as regional manager for a tutoring centers throughout Southern California.
David enjoyed fishing, BBQ, family and friend gatherings to watch the Lakers and Dodgers games and most of all had the love for music. He loved to sing with Mariachi Bands or whenever there was an opportunity do so. David will dedicate songs to those he loved and sing to them. He was also known for his singing the songs of his idol "Elvis Presley" most known to sing "It's Now or Never" at locations where karaoke be held. He was everyone's star of show, the live of the party. He always lit up the room with his jokes and never ending laughter.
David had the biggest heart of giving to everyone, will not ask for nothing in return. He just wanted to put a smile on someone's face. He was blessed to have a dozen godchildren. He was known as "Nino", short for Padrino, (means Godfather in English) to everyone.
David had a love for his cats, especially one named "Lil One", his light golden tabby, which he held a special bond with.
He is preceded in death of his mother Rita Gonzales.
David is survived by his lovely wife Elizabeth (Liz) Quinonez; Father Joe Gonzales; Brothers Joseph (Rose) Gonzales, Robert Gonzales, Michael Gonzales (Jessica) and Raymond Gonzales; Sister Catherine Herrera (Gilbert). Father -in-Law Domingo Quinonez; Mother- in- Law Blanca Quinonez; Sister- in-Law Patricia Valdez (Ricardo); and numerous of nephews, nieces and extended family members.
David "Big D" we will forever cherish wonderful memories of you and your light will always shine in our hearts.
He closed his final curtain here with us, he surely opened one up in heaven and will continue to do his singing to those around him.

Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 6:30pm on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021 with a rosary to begin at 7:00pm at the Garcia Mortuary Chapel, 629 South A Street in Oxnard. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Thursday, June 24th, 2021 at Santa Clara Church, 324 South E Street in Oxnard. Please visit www.santaclaraparish.org under "Funeral Attendance" to reserve your seat. Interment to follow at Santa Clara Cemetery, 2370 North H Street in Oxnard.
