David Keith Gilbert, 77, of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 10:41 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. Gilbert was born December 11, 1943, in Campbellsville, Kentucky, the loving son of Matthew and Clattie Jane Claywell Gilbert. On November 8, 1963, Mr. Gilbert married Beverly J. Fowler; she survives.
Mr. Gilbert retired from Golden Foundry in September 2003 after 37 1/2 years of service. He was a faithful member of the Bethel Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his family so much and enjoyed spending time with his special friend, his cat, Maggie. Mr. Gilbert enjoyed NASCAR and was a fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and later Tony Stewart.
Mr. Gilbert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beverly; daughters, Annette (David) Peach of Crawfordsville, Indiana and Karen (David) Flint of Sturgis, Michigan; grandchildren, Tyler Hoover of Elkhart, Indiana, Jessica (Matt) Keegan of Goshen, Indiana and Matthew Peach of Crawfordsville, Indiana; a great-granddaughter, Addison Keegan; sister, Nell Edwards of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gilbert was preceded in death by his father, Matthew Gilbert; mother, Clattie J. Teegarden; stepfather, Pearl Teegarden; brothers, Harvey, John and Billy Gilbert; and sisters, Janie Anderson and Angie Bright.
The funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastor Adam Carrigan will officiate.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gilbert will be laid to rest in the Garden of Faith at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church.
