David C. Eberhardt, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2022. He was born on December 30, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late George and Vina (nee Wyman) Eberhardt.
David lived in many places over his life including Park Ridge, Evanston and Riverwoods, IL as well as Islamorada, FL.
He graduated from Maine Township High School in 1947; Westminster College in Fulton, MO in 1951 where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and Northwestern University Medical School in 1955 and became an Anesthesiologist in 1958.
David served his country in the U.S. Army as a Captain from 1958-1960 stationed at a hospital in LaRochelle, France. After returning from France, he practiced at Evanston Hospital/Northwestern Hospital in Evanston, IL for 15 years as well as Condell Hospital in Libertyville for 15 years. He founded Hawthorn Place Surgical Center in Libertyville, IL in 1988, which was the 2nd Illinois Outpatient Center. David served as President of the Lake County Medical Society for several years. After retiring, he became a Medical Surveyor doing accreditations throughout the country for Outpatient Surgical Centers.
David's hobbies included being an avid reader, bridge player, sailing to downhill skiing. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and his biggest passion was flying as a private pilot. He built Air Ultralight and an Amphibian plane in his airplane room in Riverwoods, IL. David also enjoyed traveling the globe and seeing many different cultures throughout his adult life.
He married Corrine Eberhardt in 1952 until her death in 2004 and then married Eleanor Johnson Eberhardt in 2006.
Survivors include his daughter, Dr. Wendy Eberhardt (Jim Linford); granddaughter, Danielle Sanchez (nee Drosis) and 3 great grandchildren; his son, David Scott Eberhardt (Lisa Podell); grandson, Zach Podell-Eberhardt and granddaughter, Rachel Podell-Eberhardt. His also survived by his brother, George Eberhardt. After marrying Eleanor, David welcomed, Katherine A. (nee Johnson) (Daniel J. Leunig) and granddaughter, Jennifer K. Leunig as well as Julia J. (nee Johnson) (John J. Hurrell).
David was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Rentch.
Private interment will be held in Florida.
