Dave is survived by his wife, Cheryle Lynch Foy, three children: daughter, Lisa Foy, daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Michael Grimmett, and son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Amanda Foy. Dave also leaves behind his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Frank Bradley, two step-sons, four grand-daughters, a niece, a step grandson, and two step great-grandchildren. Dave was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Ann Foy. Dave will be dearly missed by countless other beloved friends and family.
Dave was born in Waterford, New York on August 3rd, 1943. From the time he was a child, he loved and played sports of all kinds, including baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, racket ball, snow skiing, and even curling during his time in Minnesota. Of course, golfing remained his favorite in his later and retirement years, even accomplishing two noteworthy hole-in-ones! Dave, being a very proud Italian was also a fabulous cook! Anyone who knew him has sampled his many Italian dishes and always came back for seconds.
Dave studied and graduated with a degree in Engineering and started his career working for one of the oldest apparel industry giants, The Cluett Peabody Company, in Troy, New York. The company was best known for its Arrow brand of men's shirts. He spent eight years in Eveleth, MN and was transferred to Georgia in 1977. Shortly after moving to Georgia, he took a position with the William Carter Company, a leader in children's apparel. He thoroughly enjoyed his job as Director of manufacturing and engineering until he retired at age 69.
He was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be remembered for his sense of humor, and the quiet but profound love he had for his family. Dave professed a belief in Jesus Christ as his savior and we look forward to our reunion on the other side in Heaven. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday October 6th at 11:00 AM at the GA National Cemetery in Canton, GA. Please sign the guestbook online at www.meadowsfuneralhomeinc.com
