David W. Cooper, 68, of Fort Ashby, WV, passed away peacefully September 9, 2021 at home with his wife, Joyce, at his side. David is now at rest and free of pain after many years of battling multiple health issues.
He was born on August 19, 1953 in Leesburg, Virginia to Lucille (Quesenberry) Cooper and Johnny Cooper. He was
predeceased by his parents and several beloved aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 25 years, Joyce (Pihlgren) Cooper and his fur baby, Phebe; his brothers Rick and Larry,Virginia and their sons Glenn and Brandon and his aunts Loraine Loy, Edna Frye, Nancy Quesenberry
and Louise Quesenberry.
David graduated from Loudoun County High School class of '71 and began his work career with Eastern
Airlines at DC National Airport where he made many lasting friends. When Eastern closed, David
returned to college to pursue a degree in art. He graduated from RIT, with honors in Industrial Design.
He worked at Mobil Corporation as a graphic designer and then Exxon Mobil as a contractor with his
own company Cooper Design Group. While at Mobil he met his future wife, Joyce. They married
October 19, 1996. David was a talented artist with a passion for woodworking. He made many
wonderful pieces for their home in Fort Ashby, WV.
David was a fun-loving, generous, thoughtful man. He loved to have a good party and ply his friends
with gourmet meals he prepared from scratch that were as beautiful as they were delicious. He always
enjoyed a good cigar, cocktails, and good friends. He will be missed.
The Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Keyser, WV, is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in his memory.
At his request, Mr. Cooper was cremated and there will be no services. So please raise your glass in toast to David. Here's to you my love, until we meet again.
