David Holmes Bush

Monroe, NC - David Holmes Bush, 58, of Pineville, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Carlton McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe, NC after a courageous 5-year battle with several serious illnesses. He was born in Phoenix, AZ and raised in Wellston, OH. He graduated from Wellston High School in 1984, where he played baseball and ran cross-country. After high school, he attended the University of Rio Grande, graduating in 1990. In 1991, David enlisted in the United States Army where he spent 5 years as a petroleum supply specialist. He received an honorable discharge in 1996 and moved to the Charlotte area. It was there that he began a happy and fulfilling 24-year career with West Marine Inc. A proud Appalachian, David loved his visits home to southeast Ohio and was a lifelong Ohio Bobcats fan. David was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Marjorie (Giering) Bush; grandparents: Peter and Susan Bush and Horton and Mildred Giering; favorite aunt and uncle Art and Mary Walsh; mother-in law Gerry Fain; and beloved border collie Pepper Joe. He is survived by his son Christopher Bush and life-long friend Angela (Fain) Bush; brother Peter Bush (Linda); cousin Dan Bush; father-in-law Jack Fain; sister-in-law Tracy Brown (Dean); nephews Peter Bush (Liz) and Justin Brown; nieces Meredith Kotter (Brian) and Hannah Brown; loving rescue cat Maddie and many other special family and friends. David will be laid to rest with his parents at Highland Mills, NY. A private memorial with family and friends will be held at a later date.
