David Leo (Lee) Bowery passed on November 25, 2022 after a brief illness. At 88 years old, he lived a long and fruitful life. He is survived by his three sons, David (Peggy) Bowery, Douglas (Linda) Bowery, and Darryl Bowery, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and host of great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Pricy, whom he loved and adored. Also, preceding him in death were four brothers, William, Thomas, John, and Richard. He has one brother, Robert, who is still with us.
Dave began his early life in Wheeling, West Virginia. He and his family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he grew up and met his wife, Pricy, and began their family. Dave worked for the United States Postal Service at the Cincinnati Regional Postal Center for a number of years, before accepting the position as postmaster in Maysville, Kentucky. He retired from the postal service in 1988.
While living in Cincinnati, Dave was an active member of the Miami Heights Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as the Chief of the Life Squad. During his tenure there, he was awarded recognition as helping to deliver three children. He was always willing to contribute a helping hand when needed.
He and his wife were avid lovers of antiques, and eventually opened their antique shop, called "The Bowery House Antiques" in the early 1980's. They traveled extensively to antique shows throughout the country, and enjoyed many years of sharing their time together. They enjoyed traveling the country together, and spent a large part of their lives after retirement, seeing the United States and Mexico.
Dave had a fantastic sense of humor, and loved telling stories and sharing a joke. He loved the time he spent with family, and spent hours entertaining them with tales and memories of times gone by. His family truly enjoyed their time with him, and relished their time together.
Funeral services for David Leo Bowery will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 29, 2022 with Rev. David Bowery officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 28, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
