David T. Bottomly

David T. Bottomly passed away on November 1, 2021 at the age of 86. David's wife, Carol-Ann E. (Nelson) Bottomly preceded him in death in 2011, and both were born in Worcester, MA. Dave and Carol-Ann were married for 48 years and lived in Eden Prairie, MN since 1983. Both were long-time members of the United Methodist Church.
David leaves: a son, Dr. Glenn D. Bottomly (Husband: John Siracusa, Jr.) of Minneapolis, MN; a daughter, Lisa C. (Bottomly) Galligan (Husband: Bill Galligan) of Exeter, RI; a Step-Daughter, Patricia A. (Freeberg) Schuler of Montevideo, MN (deceased); and, a sister, Norma L. (Bottomly) Pierson of Rockport, MA (deceased at age 92).
David served three years in the U.S. Army: Basic training at Fort Dix, NJ; Advanced Basic at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD; Advanced missile training at White Sands Proving Ground, NM; and, his last two years was stationed with The Ordinance Command, assigned to the 25th Infantry Division at Scofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii.
David was a graduate of: South High School; Worcester Junior College w/Associates Degree; and, Northeastern University w/Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
David's work career was focused primarily in Purchasing & Materials Management including roles at Norton Company, Worcester, MA; Dennison Manufacturing Co., Framingham, MA; American Optical Corp., Putnam, CT; and, Northern Telecom Inc., Warwick, RI and Minnetonka, MN. David worked 13 years for Medtronic, Inc. in Minneapolis, MN and business travels took him to Puerto Rico and The Netherlands many times. David retired from Medtronic at age 65.
David and Carol-Ann loved to travel visiting Ogunquit, ME, their most favorite place, many times over the years. Their children often spent time with them there also. They greatly enjoyed their Caribbean cruise, stopping at Puerto Rico and several other islands. They vacationed twice in exciting Las Vegas and three times in Florida. David and Carol-Ann enjoyed taking many driving trips around Minnesota, Wisconsin and the upper Midwest stopping at different events, shops and historic places. They once even drove from Eden Prairie to Maine and back just for the fun of it!
A celebration of David's life will be held on Saturday November 20, 2021 with visitation starting at 10:00am and a Memorial Service starting at 11:00am at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel, 2300 W Old Shakopee Rd, Bloomington, MN 55431. Masks will be required for all guests. Guests attending are also encouraged to bring Non-Perishable Food Items to stock local Food Shelves in honor of David.
