David Lee Baker, age 69, of Norman, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at I.U. Health, Bloomington.
Mr. Baker was a member of Kurtz Church of the Nazarene.
He loved his job at the Seiboldt Quarry, where he worked more than 30 years as a heavy equipment operator. He was also a semi driver for several years.
David loved and cherished his family, especially his grandchildren, and loved spending time and playing games with them. He had a passion for fishing, and he also enjoyed playing bass at his church, bird watching, driving heavy equipment and semis, racing, singing, talking on CB radios, and coin collecting.
Born on March 20, 1953, in Bedford, he was the son of Johnny Roy and Anna Mary Henderson Baker, both of whom preceded him in death. On September 7, 1973, at Brownstown Church of the Nazarene, he married Carolyn Lou Brewer and she survives in Norman.
Survivors also include one son, Phillip Earl Baker of West Glacier, Montana; one daughter, Amy Jo (Chuck) Mails of Norman; one brother, Johnny Wade (Marie) Baker of Leesville; one sister, Judy Green (Morris) Hanner of Kurtz; two grandchildren: Hunter Lee (Marta) Baker of Seymour, and Karrigon Taylor Mails of Norman; mother-in-law, Bertha Jane Brewer of Brownstown; life-time friends, Judy Goforth and the late Larry Goforth; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Baker was also preceded in death by two nephews: Thomas Scott Green and Johnny Wade Baker, Jr.; and father-in-law, Earl Brewer.
Funeral services for David Lee Baker will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Brownstown Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Tim Lichtley and Pastor Floyd Fisher officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Brownstown Church of the Nazarene, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Brownstown Church of the Nazarene.
Interment will follow at Leesville Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Kurtz Church of the Nazarene or Medora Goes Pink.
