David Carroll Bahn

David Carroll Bahn, age 72, passed away on February 4, 2021 in Kingsville, Texas. He was born on March 22, 1948 in Kingsville to Hank and Laura Bahn.

David was the gentlest giant you'd ever meet. He always had a smile on his face, he laughed often, he knew how to have fun, and he definitely knew how to pick on the people he liked the most. That was just his way.

David & his wife Marlett raised 4 daughters who, according to David, were the reason he was bald. David raised his girls without limitations and expected them to do anything a boy could do-but better. His daughters blessed the family with 11 grandchildren over the years, however, many children in David's life considered him either their father-figure or a grandfather. David never intended to be positive role models in the lives of other children outside of his family, it was just natural for him to form connections over his love of baseball, racing cars, hunting, fishing, basketball, football, dancing, and making Bar-B-Q.

David was always down to play a mean game of dominoes, pitch, or horse. He would throw a football for hours on end and watch the Spurs, Astros & Cowboys every time they played. He could do math in his head with ease, he loved watching westerns, he serenated happy birthday in his famous Donald Duck voice to family members every year, he knew backroads and shortcuts around south Texas by heart that could rival the best GPS system, he was a great dancer, and he loved country music.

A strong work ethic allowed David to provide for his family. He worked 6 years delivering milk for Borden, 9 years in the oilfield with Jay Jay Well Service, and 17 combined years delivering bread for ButterKrust. Over the course of his career, David earned many awards including multiple certificates of appreciation for dedicated service and outstanding performance. Despite his hectic schedule, David made a point to attend every sporting event, livestock show, band recital, Christmas program, and most importantly, every Sunday service he could.

David served as an elder, Sunday School Superintendent, and financial secretary for St. Paul Lutheran-Bishop, his lifelong church. David served his Lord first, his beloved wife second, his family third, and everything else just fell into place after that. The legacy David leaves on earth is the example of how he lived his life; he lived in a way that ensured he will have everlasting life at the right hand of God. Knowing this is what brings his family comfort and peace.

David is preceded in death by his father, Henry Herman "Hank" Bahn; mother, Laura Jo Pohlmeyer Bahn, and daughter, Camille Marie Bahn Williams.

David is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marlett Joan Vaughan Bahn of Kingsville, Texas; children Dr. Carmen Lynell Bahn-Kraatz, (James), Luke & Renell all from Riviera, Texas; Russell Alex Williams of Stockdale, TX; children, Tyler Williams of San Marcos, TX, Magdelynn, Jackson, and Henry all of Stockdale, TX; Corrie Ann Bahn Mosqueda, (Paul) Jadin & Taryn from Kingsville, Texas; Colene Renee Bahn Solomon, (Travis) of Pleasanton, Texas, Ethan Solomon of Virginia Beach, VA, Elliot & Elijah also from Pleasanton, Texas; and his brother, Richard Keith Bahn of Lufkin, Texas.

Family will be receiving friends from 5:30PM-7:30PM on Friday, February 12, 2021, at St. Paul Lutheran-Bishop. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at St. Paul Lutheran-Bishop. Burial immediately following at Concordia cemetery.
