David John Atkinson

David John Atkinson, age 89, of South Port Square in Port Charlotte went to be with his Lord on March 7, 2024. He was born June 20, 1934 to the late David Aloysius and Katherine Mildred (Brogan) Atkinson. In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his wife and life partner of 64 years, Janet Elaine Atkinson. Born in Jersey City, growing up in Winthrop Mass , and graduating from North-Eastern University with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following his marriage in 1956 David was a member of the National Guard until joining E.I. DuPont Company in 1959 where he experienced a very successful career until his retirement in 1990.

His passing creates a void as he will be greatly missed by family and friends. Children, Leigh Atkinson, David (Karen) Atkinson; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Eric) Trapp-Fruth; great grandchildren, Benjamin and Clara.
